Default Does word "ream" has the meaning of scold?

A son and his father are talking about his future.
The boy is wasting time. The father is getting angry.

Dad:You ever think about your future?

Son: Dad , come on .You don't have to ream me.
Dad: This is not reaming. No, this is fatherly advice.

ream someone out is an idiom. :D To remind someone of their present/past faults in a form that resembles a heated lecture (i.e. page by page by page).

    All the best,
