    Default visit there

37 million tourists visit there yearly, or one tourist for each person living in Spain.
'There' in the sentence above refers to Spain's long sandy coastline. My question is:
Can the verb 'visit' take the adverb 'there' as its object? Does it mean 'stay there'?

    Thank you very much.
