Default a new lease of life?

What does one mean by saying "It felt like a new lease of life"?
A fresh start of one's life?
    A very long life?

    Default

It can mean that you enjoy life again, or something/someone can live/exist longer than expected eg.:
The old lady got a new lease on life when she moved out to the country.
The car got a new lease on life once the mechanic was finished.
