    Hi there,
    Is 'rate' singular or plural in the following sentences?

    The crime rate has been on the increase.
    The bank interest rate has increased.
    The economic rate has increased.

    singular.

    "crime rates/bank rates/economic rates" for plural rates.

    Then how about this?

    The crime rates of USA are on the increase. OR
    The crime rate of USA is on the increase.
