    Default first time

    Which is correct:

1-It was the first time that I went there.
2-It was the first time for me to go there.

3-It was my first time to go there.
4-It was my first time going there.

5-It was the first time to go there. (the subject of "to go" is supposed to be furnished by the context).
6-It was the first time going there.

    3- yes
    4- hmmm

    Thanks Tdol,
I think 4 is acceptable in AE. If I am not mistaken, I've heard it.

That's true Tdol. What I meant was that a BE speaker would probably ruminate, while an AE speaker probably wouldn't!
I never said that you said that it was wrong, but the first time I heard it, I found it strange.
