    Default wanting or wanted

Hi i'm wondering which is the correct and appropriate answer to the queation below.

A: Doctor, I don't know what to do with my daughter.

B: She seems to be very depressed. So try to make her feel ( ).

    1. wanted 2. wanting 3. to want 4. want

I think 1 or 2 is correct but not exactly.

Although both meanings can apply at the same time, I don't agree.

(to) feel wanted: you think people (want you)(want to keep you) A child should feel wanted.

(to) feel needed: you think people need you

    first, I agree with you.
and How about "to feel wanting " in the sentence that can mean a doctor said her daughter should not be overprotected
    from her mother?

    cf) wanting = lacking ?

sorry 2006 so do you think the answer is no1 ?

No, "wanting" is not appropriate in that sentence. The child already seems depressed so you wouldn't want her to also feel "lacking", another negative feeling.
    #1 is the correct answer.
