    Recommended books/Intermediate level

    Hi All,

A new student of mine is most eager to read a book in English so she and I can discuss it. Can anyone recommend some good books for this purpose?

She is pre-intermediate or possibly intermediate.

    Thanks in advance,

    Catherine C.

Something modern or something classic? How old is the student?

Any and all recommendations would be most welcome. I think she is in her late twenties. She mentioned that she had just read a "thriller" and enjoyed it!

I highly recommend "Master Pip" by Lloyd Jones. Short, brilliantly written, many-layered, not difficult language.

However, if she likes thrillers, maybe try a Sue Grafton or Kathy Reichs.
