    Hi there
    Please help:
    Which one is correct?
    1. on/ in a tram
    2. on/ in a bus
    3. on/ in an underground train
    4. on/ in a underground train compartment
    5. on/in the boat
    6. on/ in a ship
    7. on/ in a cruise
    8. on/ in a sampan
    9. on/ in a raft
    10. on / in a construction lift—(without roof)

    Both in/on are correct. It depends on how you look at the things in question, on the platform, in/on the train/ship etc.

    You travel on buses, trains, trams, boats (including sampans); but you can be in[side] all of these. Your context governs it.

    You will be in a compartment.

    You go on a cruise, and sit on a raft, and are lifted up on a construction lift.
