    This is part of the expression 'put my two cents in' which is a US saying but came from the UK: 'my two pennies worth'. It is said by someone before they voice their opinion...if you like, it's a grown-up way of putting your hand up to intervene in a discussion with your own point of view.

    The phrase has been around for a very long time, and as often happens over time some linguistic fossils get left behind. You may hear 'two pennies worth' reduced to the form /tu: 'penəθ/ (in texts 'two penn'orth' or 'two penn'uth'): Someone who's exasperated by constant interruptions may say: 'You always have to stick your two penn'orth in, don't you!'
