Smile desperate/eager to find someone to repair her computer

Gertrude is desperate/eager to find someone to repair her computer.

    Hi,

In the above, "desperate" and "eager" mean about the same to me, but I need your confirmation. Thanks.

    Yes and no.

Being desperate carries a connotation of getting something done whatever happens, whereas eager is much more a general feeling of desire to get something done.
