    Hello,

    Do these expressions mean the same:

    "to pay attention to something"

    "to be careful of something" ,

    "Pay attention" means to Observe or to listen by concentrating on something.

    -- I would like you all to pay attention to the lecture. I may ask you question after the chapter is over.

    "To be careful " is to beware of something or to be cautious/be on guard.

    -- Please be careful of that dog. It looks dangerous to me.
