    Default Dont hasten to bid me do."

    Dear teacher,

    "...Come and sit by my side if you love me,
    Dont hasten to bid me do...."

    The above sentences were digested from a song named "Red River Valley". Could you please tell me the meaning of "Dont hasten to bid me do."

    Thank you very much.

    Come and sit by my side if you love me
    Do not hasten to bid me adieu
    ==> Don't hurry to say Good-bye. :D
    But remember the Red River Valley
    And the cowboy who loved you so true

    Note that, adieu is pronounced ae'd, ae'dy. Adieu was borrowed into English from French, and the French borrowed it from Latin: ad means, with, and dieu means, God. Adieu used to mean, Go with God. It was a basic farewell saying a long time ago. 8) These days, it means, farewell.

    All the best, :D
