Do you mean to day "pertaining to your absence since March 17, 2008? Has this person been gone since March 17 or BEFORE?)
We have not received an explanation for your absences. You are hereby mandated to explain your attendance record in writing within 24 hours upon receipt of this letter.
Should you fail to submit your explanation within the specified period, it will be presumed that you have no explanation to offer. Hence, corresponding disciplinary actions will be taken against you as per the company policy, which includes termination of your employment.
