    Usage of 'for' and 'of'

    Hi,

Please let me know, which of the following is correct?

    1. I don't know whether tomorrow is a holiday of the college.
    2. I don't know whether tomorrow is a holiday for the college.
    3. I don't know whether tomorrow will be a holiday of the college.
    4. I don't know whether tomorrow will be a holiday for the college.

Also, let me know when we use 'for/of'. Can of/for be used interchangeably in this case?

    Regards

Can you please tell me the reason for the choices you marked correct? Can I not use 'of the college' in this? Please clarify! I am really confused.

Re: Usage of 'for' and 'of'

Prepositions are very difficult. They are used that way because they are used that way, and logic doesn't always play a role.

The college doesn't create the holiday, but they "take" the holiday as a day off.

There are some holidays I get off, but my husband does not. Memorial Day is a holiday for me, but not for my husband.
