    Default Re: abbr. of surnames

    Hi!

My question is whether last name can be shortened or not. Thanks!

If my memory serves me right, an American once told me that last name can not be abbreviated.

    For example, George Walker Bush

    George W. Bush

    G. W. Bush

    George B.

But actually, I see many people just make their surnames short in the comments on news.

    e.g. Bob K. London

Last names aren't abbreviated; unless, that is, you want to do it that way.
