    "same " or "the same"

    Dear All,

    The question is as following.

    The twin brothers look
    (1) the same
    (2) same

Which one should we choose and why?

It is said that some verbs, such as "look", "sound", "feel" must be followed by an adjective. For example, feeld good, sound great.

So, why we use "the same " here?

Thanks a lot for your kind assistance. :o

    Best Regards,
    Cicily from Taiwan

Historically, it was a comparative, like the superlatives the most, the first, the best, etc.

My twin brothers look the same (as each other).

    All the best, :D
