Default The use of to or lack of...!

Hi, I am just looking for some assistance with the use of to.
Eg - go home/ go overseas! Why no to? I understand sometimes there are irregularities. Can someone please explain this to me!
    Thanks for any help! :D

We need Cassy here with all here grammar knowledge!

Certain words just don't ever take "to" and unfortunately you'll have to memorize them.

other words off the top of my head:
    to bed
    to church
    to school

    and there are many more...

Home is where the Heart is.

Home is a place of origin. It's not only our source, it's our goal: We leave home (Source) in the morning and return home (Goal) at night. Home is both the Source and the Goal of our movements, so adding 'to' to express 'movement towards an end-piont' is redundant. Home is itself the ultimate goal, right?. 8)

overseas, being a fixed source of origin, shares semantic similarities with home. It's possible given its history that it refers to both the Source and the Goal (i.e., immigrants: from Europe or America back to Europe or America).

    All the best, :D
