    Default vocabulary

    Dear teachers,

I don't know if I can ask you for such a favour, but would you please give me: (is "ask you for a favour" correct?)

1/ ten (or more) stces containing words or expressions in English that a learner of English would not necessarily know but that he might understand from the context and so find synonyms for them.

All this because I'd like to know if I would be able to understand such words or expressions and then translate them into my language.

2/ other ten (or ten other?) stces (or more) with adjective phrases to see if the position of the adjective would change if I translate these stces into French.

    Example : He’s a strange fellow. = C'est un individu bizarre.

Gratefully yours, (I really don't know if I can say this)

    Hi Héla,

    Say: "ask someone a favor".
    1) If you drink too much coffee, you'll get all amped.
    2) say: "ten other". Most adjectives would go after the noun in French, so I guess you can pick almost any sentence eg. It's a red car.

You usually don't need to use formal expressions in forums. "Thanks" is generally enough

    Bonsoir François,

Si vous êtes donc frç, connaîtriez-vous un site tel que celui-ci où des profs pourraient m'aider dans mes travaux de traduction angl-frç?

    Merci d'avance.

    On peut se tutoyer
Non, je ne connais pas de tel site, mais je suis tout disposé à te filer un coup de main si tu cibles bien tes questions, et si c'est dans mes cordes. Il y a une partie "Other Languages" dans ce forum, on peut y parler de ce que l'on veut -- et en français aussi.
OK, enough French or we'll get banned

    Bonjour François,

C'est d'accord, si j'ai une question à te poser concernant la traduction frç-ang/ang-frç je m'adresserai à toi sur la page "foreign languages".

Cependant, n'oublie pas de m'envoyer des phrases avec des mots pas très usuels en angl dont je pourrai deviner le sens et donc les traduire facilement en anglais. Si cela ne te dérange pas, bien sûr!

    Thanks a lot,
    Héla
