    Dear teachers,

Would you be kind enough tell me whether I might to paraphrase the two sentences below in the following way?

1.1. You have the right to make your own choice.
1.2. You are entitled to make your own choice.

2.1. Gregory’s prosperity gave him the right to stay at the Triton Hotel.
2.2. Gregory’s prosperity entitled him to stay at the Trinton Hotel.

Thank you in advance for your efforts.

    Regards.

    Correction

Would you be kind enough to tell me whether I could paraphrase the two sentences below in the following way?
    _________________________

1.1. You have the right to make your own choice.
1.2. You are entitled to make your own choice.

2.1. Gregory’s prosperity gave him the right to stay at the Triton Hotel.
2.2. Gregory’s prosperity entitled him to stay at the Trinton Hotel.

The meaning of prosperity is the problem. Is there another word you could use?

    Hi Soup,

Thank you again for your kindness. Thank you also for your percise amendations.

In my humble opinion the meaning of prosperity is suitable for the case in question.

prosperity = success = well-being = wellfare = fortune = riches = the condition of being prosperous = a state of health, happiness, and prospering

    Regards.

The thing is, pragmatics. Success doesn't entitle you to a room in an expensive hotel. Rather, it's more along the line of perception:

Ex: He felt that his status/position entitled him to a room at the Trinton Hotel.
Ex: He felt that he was entitled ...
