Would you be so kind as to read post #31 on this thread. In case you should fail to get what it is related to, please note that it is a reply to your post #24 addressed to e2e4 and Clark where you support e2e4's opinion that the Earth is flat and that the imagination of today's English speaking people has reduced to a few patterns - relics of Old English times.

Dear Clark, the question itself required some direction, which it was devoid of. No hard feelings.

Were you suggesting that I should give it 'some direction' or were you proposing to give 'some direction' yourself? By the way, this is not a chatroom, so if have anything to say on the subjunctive mood which is the topic of the discussion, I'll be more than pleased to hear you out.

    Calm down, Clark.
As we are non-native speakers, it is highly possible we occasionally misunderstand one another. Venkatasu apparently wants a crystal-clear answer to this question. SUDHKAMP might be just trying to help venkatasu(or asking you for a suggestion(conclusion) by responding to your previous post. I don't know the truth....but...

Anyway, let's enjoy studying English together, respecting(or welcoming) various opinions.

Well...first of all, I had the question :

Why isn't "It's time we should go home" possible?
I personally cannot see any grammatical errors here.

I had known "It's time we went home" is perfectly correct. However, I hadn't been able to find any reasons to make "It's time we should..." incorrect.

    My conclusion is....

It is best for us to use either "It's time + Subject + past form..." or "It's time for- to..."
It's simply because they(native speakers) never say "It's time - should..."

I'd like to give you some information from Practical English Usage(Michael Swan). On page 297 it says:

    it's time

    1 followed by infinitive

It's time(or it is time) can be followed by an infinitive.
It's time to buy a new car.

When it is necessary to express the subject of the infinitive, the for+object+infinitive structure can be used.
It's time for her to go to bed.

2 followed by past tense with present meaning

It's time can also be followed by a subject with a past tense verb. The meaning is present.
It's time she went to bed.
It's time you washed those trousers.
I'm getting tired. It's time we went home.

    Hi Tzfujimino

I'd like to hear their opinion on the subject being discussed. The problem is that they won't tell me. I wonder why.
