    Red

The color of her gown was such a red as makes the eyes ache.

Is "red" a predicate adjective or a predicate nominative? Thank you.

    Hello Lucky,

I would say, that it is an predicate adjective. It describes the colour (capacity) of the gown.

    Kind regards,

how about: "The color of her gown was red enough to make your eyes ache/sore".
