What's saying the following sentence?
The movie was conceived over lunch more than three years ago.
Is it saying that the movie was prepared mostly while having lunch, back more than three years?
'conceive' in the figurative sense means to form a plan, to come up with the idea. So, they might be having lunch, and one person is saying that his son is mad keen on comics and his favourite is Superman. They all remember being kids and enjoying comics themselves; and one confesses, as an adult, to reading his kid's Superman comics. Someone then says, I bet a lot of adults still love those old Super heroes...and someone then says, hey, I bet that would make a great movie - parents would take their kids, and love the movie themselves! The idea is conceived.
Then comes all the scriptwriting and planning and...before Superman hits the screen.
