    Default global warming

    Hi,

Global warming has advanced to an alarming degree. Human beings have to decide what to do before it is too late. We have three choices open to use. First, we can keep consuming fossil fuel the way we do and raise the amount of carbon dioxide in the air until we become extinct. Second, in order to survive, we must do all we can to develop clean energy and use it instead of fossil fuel. Third, we can use much less fossil fuel and stop the earth from getting warmer.

    Could you correct any errors?

Not much global warming here today - it's colder than it was on Christmas Day!

    Anglika,
    Thank you very much.

    Why "fossil fuels"?
"in order to survive" -- this is redundant, isn't it?
Why do you think "should" sounds better?

Why "fossil fuels"? Because there are more that one: coal/gas/oil products/peat
"in order to survive" -- this is redundant, isn't it? Yes - but also because essentially all the options relate to the need to survive, even the negative one.
Why do you think "should" sounds better? These are options. This is one option, not a directive. Must implies a directive.

    Anglika,
    Thanks a lot.

Wouldn't the first option be related to the need to survive?

Global warming has advanced to an alarming degree. Human beings have to decide what to do before it is too late. We have three choices open to use. First, we can keep consuming fossil fuel the way we do and raise the amount of carbon dioxide in the air until we become extinct. Second, in order to survive, we must do all we can to develop clean energy and use it instead of fossil fuel. Third, we can use much less fossil fuel and stop the earth from getting warmer.

Global warming has advanced to such an alarming degree that human beings must decide on a plan of action before it's too late. We have three choices open to us. First, we could keep consuming fossil fuels at the current rate, raising the amount of carbon dioxide in the air until we all become extinct. Second, we could do all we can to develop clean energy and use it to replace fossil fuels, ensuring our survival. Third, we could dramatically reduce our use of fossil fuels, and stop the earth from getting warmer.

    1. choice > consequence burn fossil > die
    2. choice > consequence clean energy > survive
    3. choice > consequence less fossil > no warming

    better than

    1. choice >consequence burn fossil > dies
    2. consequence < choice survive < clean energy
    3. choice > consequence less fossil > no warming

"what to do" > "plan of action"
"the way we do now" > "at the current rate"
"and use it instead" > "use it to replace"
"use much less" > " dramatically reduce"
"in order to survive" > "ensuring our survival"

    Methuselah,
    Thank you for the response.

First, we could keep consuming fossil fuels at the current rate, raising the amount of carbon dioxide in the air until we all become extinct.
Would it be better to put "until we all become extinct" after the "rate"?

and use it to replace fossil fuels
I think that it's better to say "and substitute it with fossil fuels". What do you think?

Does the following have any errors to correct?

The problem of global warming is getting more and more serious. It is about time for mankind to decide what course of action to take. There are three options available. The first option is to destroy ourselves by continuing to use fossil fuels at the present rate and increase the amount of carbon dioxide in the air. The second is to try to survive to develop clean energy for practical use and replacing fossil fuels with it. The third option is to prevent global warming from getting worse by controlling the use of fossil fuels.

Yes, if you are sure the reader knows that burning fossil fuels increases co2 levels, otherwise they might think that the smoke is the problem.

and use it to replace fossil fuels

No, that would mean the opposite.

"Second, we could do all we can to develop clean energy and substitute it with fossil fuels, ensuring our survival."

Clean energy, the team's star player, was substituted with fossil fuels. Who is now playing ?

Fossil fuels, boo hiss, we will lose.

    Methuselah,
    Thanks a lot.

Is it okay to say "and substitute fossil fuels with it", then?
