    can't grasp the meaning

    Hi everybody!

I met the phrase “profit of doom”. Actually it was the title of the article. When I googled it, I saw lots of entries but I still can’t grasp the meaning. Could you, please, explain the meaning of it?

    Thanks in advance

    Re: can't grasp the meaning

    "prophet of doom"

Prophet = someone who foretells the future
Profit = the proceeds from an investment.

Someone who speaks of bad things likely to occur in the future.

    Re: can't grasp the meaning

Prophet of doom is someone who always expects bad things to happen.

    profit of doom

    He makes profit of doom.
It could be that he makes profit of such bad or unpleasant things such as death, earthbreaks, killings, destructions, catastrophies etc..
