    Default Analytic Mind and Poetry

    /Resent with response to Anglika's kind message/
    Poetry Analysis

As it is crystal clear, good understanding of poetry can contribute so much to its pleasure as well as the important mutual sense that we always seek to discover in the poet.

However,it is not always easy to get at the poetís actual aim, mostly because of the less common words and structures.Words are precious and lines are concise
so the reader is left without enough explanation to uncover the point.

I really like to experience other peopleís thought and imagination through their literary works.I am looking for a friend who is willing to share his/her ideas
with me on different poems - i.e. different types of poetry such as sonnets and so on.What is your method? Do you prefer paraphrasing?

To begin I've put a lyric by Anathema.
Please, explain each stanza with its the abstract or/and
concrete images as well as emotions.

Iíve underlined some of the parts that may require more clarification.
Do you think if Suicide Veil ,as a kind of covering , serves to hide the face and
and identity of its bearer in a new world - e.g. the Hereafter!

I really appreaciate your sharing views with me

    Suicide Veil
A sacrifice in the flight of dawn
    The beauty of twisted reality
    In my heart, my dreams
    A sacrifice for freedom
Alone in the grace of the dark
The pains of a failed generation
I longed for the death of the sun
    Another glorious revelation
    Destiny's plan for ruin
    I danced with the shadows
In tranquil chaos, I lay naked in the rain
    An interception of light
    A disturbing memory
This suicide veil I wear in shame

There are many tracks one could follow. At first sight, without much synthesis:
The lack of verbal forms enhances the idea of a tranquil chaos which could well constitute a proper title: This oxymoron sums up the general structure of the poem -Hardly any verbs : substances and stillness prevail and yet one can feel an underlying chaos- a stir .

the Mind the heart and the play on lights dawn-> dark-> sun/shadows and then rain without forgetting the interception of light which also seems paramount .

Twisted reality / the veil :the veil as a shield from the outer light the outer reality which looks like a harmful thing. The veil as a mirror which enables one to go through a personal and inner experience of reality. A painful ( twist!! sacrifice) and yet necessary experience for the individual. Should one forsake that hostile world ( death of the sun (son ?) failed generation )? or is there a glimpse of hope ' interception of light'?

The aspectual temporal aspect : dichotomy bt'ween past and present. ( memory- generation destiny)

The part of the I-woman .. as the disillusioned mother, the free girl-woman ( naked dancing an inner dance ) a woman, free in the shadow or is she a shadow herself ?

There are many other fields which could be explored . Perhaps, those shouldn't be unveiled yet.
