The answers to your questions are here:

fit: Definition, Synonyms and Much More from Answers.com
suit: Definition, Synonyms and Much More from Answers.com

When reading the definitions, ask yourself what problems a language learner might have in differentiating the two words in terms of what they do in a sentence and what they mean.

Click on the dictionary links I provided for you in Post #2 and look at the different forms that fit and suit can take.

Additionally, and given that you have said that you 'know the meaning of them', what problem would the following grammatical phrases hold for a language learner?
    1. fit a suit
    2. suit a fit
