Smile English for " the first person eats crabs"?

Hello! Is there any expression in English for the person who has initiative in trying some new things, which is usally dangerous, risky and uncertain? We call the person " the first person who eats crabs" in Chinese.

    Thank you!

The word 'daredevil' is used to describe an individual who is willing to take dangerous and risky chances. "Tom is ready to bungee jump from the bridge. He is a real daredevil, isn't he?"

    Cheers,
