    respectful/respectable

    Hi,
Could you tell me which is correct, respectable or respectful?
"Helping the poor is a respectable/respectful act"
    Thanks.

    Re: respectful/respectable

To be honest it could be both.

    What is the full context?

    Re: respectful/respectable

I am sorry I don't have any context because I am practicing making a sentence with respectful and respectable.

    Re: respectful/respectable

    Ok.

Being a bank clerk or a teacher is a respectable job [it deserves respect/it confers social acceptability]

This is a cathedral. Please be respectful of the nature of this building [give/show this building the respect it deserves as a place of worship]
