    Default Possessives, of, ....

    Hello!
How can I know when to use the possessive form, "of" or neither.
    For example, should I say:
    1. members' distribution
    or
    2. distribution of members
    or
    3. member distribution

and I have noticed that we can't use the plural form in (3), am I right?

I'm very confused with this part of grammar. Please help.

Context for the phrases would help. All the following are correct and acceptable.

    The members' distribution is widespread.
The distribution of members is widespread.
    Member distribution is widespread.

And yes, you are correct - #3 cannot take a plural.
