    be killed for a sheep as a lamb

    Please, could anyone help me with the meaning of this irish saying:

    One might as well be killed for a sheep as a lamb.

    It means if they are going to kill you for stealing, you might as well steal a large sheep than a small lamb.
    If you're going to be hanged for armed robbery, you might as well steal 5 million dollars than 500,000 dollars.
