Question go home - go "to" work / home - "at' work

    Hello,

I can't find a book explains why I don't use "to" or "at" in front of home.
Can anyone please explain this for me?

+I hear people say go downtown, go abroad, go upstairs...
: Are there more I can learn? / Would it be wrong if I say go to downtown, go to abroad...

    Thanks in advance! : )

#1 You can use and should use "at" in front of home.

    I am at home tonight.
He was at home when the bomb exploded.

Using "to" would require a possessive as well:

We are going to his home for a meal
I would like to invite you to my home

#2 Yes - you do not use "to" in these collocations.
