    Default understanding a sentence

    HI!

We may as well get up - now seeing as we can't sleep.

I saw the sentence above but, I don't understand the underlined part.
Can you explain it to me? Is "now seeing" conjunction?

    Thanks regards!

    This basically means:

We may as well get up - since we can't sleep.
    or
We may as well get up - because we can't sleep.

Ah, 2006 has explained it very well for you!

It should be, 'We may as well get up now, seeing as we can't sleep.'
"now" and "seeing" are not together; "seeing" is part of the subordinate clause.
"seeing as" has the meaning of since, and functions as a conjunction.
