Question Answering to an email, proofreading please...?

I am answering to an email where people are thanking me for attending at the event yesterday. I would like check my answer before to send it to them. Underlined the parts I am considering not quite corrects.

    Dear xxx,

It has been a real pleasure.

I could see residents and their babies and I appreciated the happy air that was in there.

This opportunity improved my consideration about the work of you all at the hostel and confirmed me why I want to join this organisation.

Hope that what I am doing helps you all.

    ???
