Default paraphrase of words and word combinations

    Dear teachers,

Would you be kind enough to revise my paraphrasing of the following using words and word combinations from the next sentences?

1.1. He has the right qualifications to become a member of this club.
1.2. He is eligible to become a member of this club.

2.1. Geoffrey’s point of view was that religion helped women to lead an honest life.
2.2. Geoffrey’s point of view was that religion helped women to go straight.

3.1. One becomes more experienced as one grows older.
3.2. One becomes more competent as one grows older.

4.1. Geoffrey was certain he was most satisfactory and desirable as a husband.
4.2. Geoffrey was certain he was eligible as a husband.

5.1. He just loafs around the place without any occupation.
5.2. He just hangs around the place without any occupation.

6.1. The applicant seems to be skilled and able to cope with the job.
6.2. The applicant seems to be competent.

    Thank you for your efforts.

    Regards

    V.

    Hi, vil!

I've always been amazed by your 'paraphrasing'.
How do you find those expressions? Do you use a good thesaurus?
    Do you have any secret?
'Paraphrasing' is a good practice indeed, so I'd appreciate it if you could share your secret with us.
(I'm sorry it has nothing to do with your query...)

5.1. He just loafs around the place without any occupation.
