    Could you please explain to me what is meant by the following.

    As for his boxing career , Taylor contiues to maintain that
    he has hung up his gloves for good.

    (he has hung up his gloves for good.)


    also i would like to know where i can find on line dictionaries for the
    abbreviations especially the ones that is used in politics

    "He has hung up his gloves for good" means he has decided to quit boxing and not box any more. In other words, he plans to retire (from boxing).

    Hang up your gloves is a boxing term, but it is also used in a general sense of retiring, especially if it is not due to age.
