    O Henry

I am directing a theatrical staging of the O. Henry short story: "The Octopus Marooned." I do not understand the description of trust that Jeff Peters describes as: ' like a rooster that crows near a Georgia colored Methodist camp meeting." Please help....THANK YOU

    Re: O Henry

    Welcome to the forums.

Presumably O.HEnry is referring to a Methodist meeting which primarily is of negroes, held in a tent, and with the suggestion that a rooster crowing nearby is regarded as inauspicious. It would imply a back reference to St Peter's denial of Christ.
