Default is celebrated passive and ...?

    Dear teachers,

Would you be kind enough to tell me whether there is a difference in the expressions “is celebrated” in the following sentences?

“Lenin’s birthday is celebrated on April 22.”

    “He is very celebrated.”

    Thank you for your efforts.

    Regards,

    V.

The first tells you that on that day the event is commemorated, often with parades or other festivies; the second tells you that he is famous.

    Hi Anglika,

Thank you for your explanation. And yet, my curiosity is not satisfied. If the first is Passive, what is the second one? Visual both expressions are similar. In spite of all the interpretations of the both expressions are different.

    Regards,

    V.
