Well, but the thing is that right after posting a comment in this thread, I logged off to go read "The Raven" by Edgar Poe. Imagine my surprise when I saw this "funny" verb -- methinks, in the past tense.
"Then, methought, the air grew denser, perfumed from an unseen censer".
So I logged back in to share my discovery -- to only find your, Anglika, post. So now I know that it is a good, old verb! Thank you very much. It is not for the first time when your post helps me.
