    Welcome to the forums.

    In terms of general quantity, not a great deal. They can be used interchangeably.

    There is a lot of fruit in the kitchen/There is lots of fruit in the kitchen.

    It has been well explained by Anglika. I only add here some examples to show intercangebility:Both are used with countable and uncountable nouns and often interchanged as
    lots of people think so. a lot of people think so.
    There was much/a lot of noise in the meeting. There was lots of noise in the meeting.
    However some phrases like “lots of love” used informally to end a letter.
