    I am not sure about the following...

    Hi,

    I am writing to ask what do the following phrases mean.
    1. glamour photo?
    2. stick to a budget?
    3. dish out?
    4. when did you get your first big break?
    5. It hit the charts?
    6. She spent a year onstage on broadway.
    7. What is the difference between via and stopover?
    8. Tour guide means the person who shows people around or the book about travel or both?
    9. head over heels?
    10.capella?

    I did check the dictionary before I post these question but I want to know how other people's explanation. That way I will reassure about my understanding. Thanks in advance.

    ==> To not spend money that you don't have
    3. dish out?
    ==> give out (e.g., things, food, or words)
    4. when did you get your first big break?
    ==> lucky event that helped you to succeed
    5. It hit the charts?
    ==> it was recognized
    6. She spent a year onstage on broadway.
    ==> singing/dancing/acting on the theater stage
    7. What is the difference between via and stopover?
    ==> via (by), stopover (stay for some unknown time, stay over night)
    8. Tour guide means the person who shows people around or the person who books travel or both?
    ==> Could be both but usually 'guides people'
    9. head over heels?
    ==> in love
    10. capella?
    a cappella means, unaccompanied by music or other voices.

    I didn't check the dictionary either. :wink:

    Glamour photo can also mean photos involving nudity, but more 'tasteful' than pornography.
