My student asked me if it is appropriate to have the phrase "to seeing" because she received an invitation that says "We are looking forward to seeing you on our product launching."
Please help me.
In addition, try moving the sentence elements around
Seeing you is what we are looking forward to.
If 'to' were an infinitive marker, we wouldn't be able to separate it from its verb, but since we can separate 'to' from 'seeing', we know that 'seeing' is not functioning as a verb. It's a gerund, a verbal noun. A preposition takes a noun as its object. :D
