    Re: smells burning

    Hi Bhaisahab.
Please help me because I still don't understand why it must be " smells of" and "smells burnt".
    Please explain.
    Thanks.

    Re: smells burning

    I’m not a teacher.

    Hi mylevt

    ,
It is most likely that it may be true also: “I can smell a burn in the kitchen.” or “There is a smell of burning in the kitchen.”
or “It smells like something is burning in the kitchen.”

There is a smell coming from the kitchen.

When you stop driving you smell a burn around the front tire and back tire?

How do you remove burn smell? Why does your car smell like electrical burning after you have
been driving it for a while?

Recently a burning smell has began to emanate from my kitchen,my first thought was that I had a short circuit or faulty fuse somewhere but all ..

What causes a burning smell from a car heater? Is it normal to smell burning oil in car after it has been sitting for a year?

    Regards,

    V.

    Thanks.
This sounds vaguely like something we used to say when I was a child. But it sounds wrong to me today.
"Something smells like it's burning in the kitchen" is correct.

    Re: smells burning

What is wrong with "Something smells of burning?" I agree that "Something smells like it's burning" is super correct, but in my opinion would be rarely said.

Well, no, but it seems we rarely deal here with sentences that are commonly said.
It would be much more likely to hear "Shit, I've left the milk on!"
