Smile Please correct: Long time no see.

    Episode:

In the British film - Yes, Minister, the president of a certain African country, who was the minister Jim's classmate of LSE (the London School of Economics ), was visiting the UK.

When they met, Jim greeted him, " ...Long time no see..."

And the President responded, "Don't speak pidgin English with me. "

    Question:

I wonder what the standard Engish for "Long time no see" is. Thanks!

"It is a long time since I last saw you."

"It is a long time since we last met."
