    word order

    1. Last week's terrible events
    2. Yesterday's interesting news

    Is the word order correct?

I also have doubts about the article in:

We had a nice two weeks' holiday.

Thanks, David. Is 'a' in the following sentence correct?[

We had a nice two weeks' holiday.

That article is all right. But there's something that isn't so:

We had a nice two-week holiday.
    or
We had a nice two week's holiday.
    or
We had a nice fortnight's holiday.

    a week's holiday
    a two-week holiday
    two weeks' holiday

but: 'a two week's holiday' doesn't sound right to me.
How does "two + week's" combine?

The only possible ways I know of to express something with a number included in the noun modifier is through the two options I provided:

    two-week holiday
    or
    two week's holiday (possessive)

    Or maybe I'm wrong ?

    Re: word order

I think the plural form of the noun should be put in the possessive case:
    two weeks' holiday

    So is it:
We had a nice two weeks' holiday.
    or
We had nice two weeks' holiday?
