    Question Are there any differences between......

    Hi dear teachers!

    Are there any differences between 1- Pale blue 2- Dark blue and 3- Fine blue? There is an objective question in the test.

    The background color here is pale blue.
    The bar behind the word "Notices" is dark blue.
    I don't know what "fine blue" is supposed to be.

    I was stumped on fine blue, too, but I think I Googled the answer:

    Fine blue silk. (took me a second reading to understand it, too; when your head is in one place it's hard to bring it back.) It is simply blue silk of a fine quality.

    There use to be a rule about requiring a comma in such constructions, but maybe it was only if you used three or more consequtive adjectives: Heavy, fine, blue silk.

    I found another example on Google: "Fine Blue Shield." In this case, "fine" is a verb, meaning to assess a penalty for illegal behaviour.
