    playing for keeps

    Hi,
    I would like to know the meaning of the expression "playing for keeps".
    I have looked for it all over, but I have not found it.

    Hi,

    If you are playing for keeps, you are playing (cards,etc) with the understanding that the winner gets to keep the winnings.
