Default having trouble remembering the name of this term....

What is the correct term for a phrase that can be shortened using the first letters of each word to make another word? I know this is a confusing question... here's an example:

    Ace Shadow Knight = A.C.E.

    or

Delaware Business and Recreation Association = de.b.r.a.

I'm totally frustrated... I used to know the term

    Thanks for the help

    The term is "acronym"

    From dictionary.com:

    ac·ro·nym n.

A word formed from the initial letters of a name, such as WAC for Women's Army Corps, or by combining initial letters or parts of a series of words, such as radar for radio detecting and ranging.

    hth
