as sour and useless as it may seem

In a sentence "As sour and useless as it may seem, a lemon is essential in making lemonade", could we change this sentence into a following one?

Although it may seem, a lemon~~.

and in fact, I thought that sentence wrong thinking "Sour and useless as it may seem" is a correct sentence. So, would you please give me some information about the usage of "as" just like the above.
