    Default Meeting points

    Dear Teachers,

Pl. proofread the drafted points being discussed in the meeting.

Thank you so much for the voluntary help & your time.
The job you are doing here is priceless.

    Cheers
    Rasna

    -----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

    1) Banners

As a promotional scheme, S&M should approach the leading builders in Bangalore viz. Prestige Group, Adarsh Developers, Puravankara Group, Brigade Group, Confident Group, Sobha Developers etc. to display our banners at their construction sites (which is ready for inauguration). The banners should be trimmed, seamed and eyeleted ready to be fixed almost anywhere we need. It should carry a message as “PNT Fresh” truly becomes your store, the place where you enter the world of FRESHNESS!! Please visit us and we'll be sure to greet you with a warm smile and lots of fresh F&V.

We should workout a strategy based on capacity of apartments either to supply the fresh fruit & vegetable to their door steps or to buy from the nearest PNT retail outlet.

We also should ensure that our ultimate goal is to create a warm, friendly place where people can come and shop with options not only for special occasions, but any and every occasion.

    2) Transportation cost analysis

Forum has asked LO to submit the transportation cost spent on SDFs in the same lines of the comparison made on account of SGAs. LO should workout comparison on cost implications on the basis of SDF wise / Route wise on account of transportation.

    3) Crate management

In addendum to Sept BRM point no. 15: after we handed over the charge to security effect from 01.09.08, we noted that there was a difference of 2300 crates to date. This is a serious issue. HR/LO/OP/FA should meet GM jointly on Saturday 15/11/08 at 10 AM to discuss and decide on shortages of crates. The shortage value should be deducted immediately from the security agency in this September bill.

    4) Laptops

We may think of an option of buying the laptops from SNX. While purchasing a laptop, we should ensure that the performance of mobile computing unit is heavily depends upon three basic components: processor, memory and video. The better they are, the faster and smoother your computer will be. Accordingly PIS / S&P / FA should indicate the price tag and buy the laptops from SNX after approval of GM.

    5) Banana for auction

Again we observed that at auction, Robusta Banana was not offered for 14 days and Yellakki Banana for 9 days. BL claims that the Banana received after auction and sale was also happened through the direct invoice. BL should ensure on timely supply to auction.

Further noticed that the sourcing of Banana from SGA was 43% whereas Non SGA was 57%. BL should get the explanation from Mr. Nanjareddy the person responsible for banana.

    6) Payment

BL / S&P claim that the pending payments hampering the timely and consistency supplies. We will take up the matter with CEO, Horticulture Business and look for an arrangement of the working capital for F&V and FMCG. BL/S&P/FA to put up a proposal for working capital to appraise the management on the adverse effects while sourcing due to delay in payment.

Further, S&M should ensure the proper follow up and timely collection of debtors. In case of bulk coupon sales at retail stores atleast 50% of the realization should be in cash, this helps us to rotate the credit period of vendors as well as the customers. It will ease up the liquidity or working capital situation.

In the promotional scheme, S&M should approach the leading builders of Bangalore viz. the Prestige Group, the Adarsh Developers, the Puravankara Group, the Brigade Group, the Confident Group, the Sobha Developers etc, to display our banners at their construction sites (which are near completion).

Thank you so much & surely everyone uses this ESL forum loves English language.
Some more additions to proofread, pl.
Daily I will add some points (maximum 25 points only) and request your voluntary help.

Thank so much in advance !!

    1) Bulk Sales

It was noted that the bulk sales was gone down by 40%. A slew of contracts for bulk products to be signed at attractive price points. S&M should push these quantities and liquidate the stock on priority.

    2) Institution Sales

S&M team works to identify market opportunities for farmers’ produce with wholesalers, retailers, and/ or institutional buyers. It was noted that the sales through institution was down by 3.51 MT /day in this month. S&M need to explore more institution buyers to increase sales. To achieve this look for good hotels, caterers etc. and try to satisfy the customers as much as possible.

    3) Dump

It was observed that the total dump quantity was 86.91 MT (i.e. approximate value of Rs. 13.18 Lakh) in the last month. Wherein on the above the percentage of share from retail itself was 4.04%, which is highest from all other places. S&M should ensure proper control on dump & damage by forecasting the indenting and reduction in stock outs.

    4) Downgrading of produce

BL claimed that buyers will study the arrival of banana and wait till this gets downgraded. MIS should make an analysis on the percentage of buyers for auction & direct invoice, purchase capacity, quality or quantity oriented etc. Same system follows even in other produces also. This helps us to analyze the buyers mind and accordingly material can be sourced.

    5) Cancellation of produce purchased

We have been noticing the frequent cancellation from buyers after bidding in auction or purchase in direct invoice. To have a check on these cancellation we have started collecting Rs. 50/- as penalty. Even though this cancellation has not curtailed and leading to some malpractices rousing us to take a further stringent action on this issue. BL /S&M / FA to come with valid points to discuss in the next BRM.

    6) Procurement price

MIS should study and submit a detailed report on how the pricing structure being followed at APMC and other retail markets. This helps us to improve in our pricing pattern and advance in our business.

Awfully long for a banner. Keep banner messages short and punchy:

PNT Fresh: Your welcoming store for fresh fruit and vegetables

PNT FRESH for a friendly welcome AND freshness!

We should work out a strategy based on a capacity either to supply the fresh fruit & vegetable to of apartments' door steps or to encourage residents to buy from the nearest PNT retail outlet.

This helps us to rotate the credit period of vendors as well as the customers. It will ease up the liquidity or working capital situation.
Surely you man "cash flow", rather than "working capital"?

Dear Anglika, Cash flow and liquidity are two different terms.
Cash flow is the net of Cash inflow and Cash outflow. Liquidity is the amount available which can be spent, it is equivalent to cash, bank or any other instrument which can be used to pay debts.
Thus Land and building are the most illiquid assets, while money in cash is most liquid succeeded by Bank, Goods, inventories etc.
Workind capital is the capital required to keep the venture running day to day, i.e., factory and other infrastructure required to produce goods is fixed capital, but the raw materials purchased for producing goods etc. is working capital. Usually good business increase their output by managing working capital by imposing discipline over payments and receipts.
The term cash flow and working capital are not interchangeable.

This sentence seem to me to be missing something, what did you want to say? e.g. that its available

S&M should push these quantities, and liquidate the stock (on) as a priority.

Thank you dear Anglika for your voluntary support & correction. As Sudhkamp rightly said, usually the top management / financial experts says:

If the company gaining profit you don't need a working capital, orelse if it is under loss what is the point of doing business. This is very much applicable to retail sector but not a manufacturing companies, hence, the blue coloured (above) sentence is very much opt for all retail businesses.

    Default Re: Meeting points

Pl. proofread the below points. Thank you so much for the help in advance

    Ø Banners

    Further fine tuned as;

The banners have to be trimmed, seamed and eyeleted, so that they are ready to be fixed almost anywhere. It must carry a message as:

    a) “PNT Fresh”: Truly becomes your store, the place where you enter the world of FRESHNESS!!
    b) PNT Fresh: Your welcoming store for fresh fruit and vegetables!
    c) PNT Fresh for a friendly welcome AND freshness!
    d) PNT is supplying fresh F&V at cheaper rate all over the Bangalore because we source directly from farmers.
    e) Please visit us and we'll be sure to greet you with a warm smile and lots of fresh F&V.

    Ø Transportation cost analysis

Currently we are paying Rs. 0.38 paise as a transportation cost / SDF, if we redefine the slabs can there be any scope of improvement. LO should put the details in the next BRM.

    Ø Procurement price

MIS should study and submit a detailed report on the pricing structures being followed by other retail shops, who are buying from KR Market. In case of tomato, PNT is considering 22 kg / crate whereas Reliance considering 20 / crate. This helps us to improve in our pricing pattern and advance in our business.

    Ø Air curtains

It was observed that the stackers or anyone who opens the door at F&V hall will not shut it properly. This increases the electricity consumption at halls and allows cool air disappearing out the door. If we place a security for the job is also costlier, hence, it was decided to go with air curtains.

Air curtains are the best elements to control the indoor climate in all the places where the doors can't be always closed. Engg. should arrange the air curtains at F&V hall immediately.

Ø Power consumed at Commercial Block

It was noticed that the power consumption in commercial block has increased, which is mainly because of the New SDF load on commercial block. Engg. should separate the electricity consumed at retail and recover directly from them, which is in the same lines of other SDFs. It helps us to know about the power consumption at SDF and also to have a proper control.

    Ø Maintenance

Efficient plant maintenance viz. civil, mechanical & electrical equipments are vital to a company's ability to optimize and harmonize its production processes. Engg. should plan and work out on an areas viz. planned maintenance, SDF maintenance, breakdown maintenance and corrective maintenance; the life cycle for machineries / equipments and submit in the next BRM.

    Ø ePOS and scanner

PIS should cover ePOS and scanner under AMC immediately after the expiry of the warranty. S&P even think of an option of covering this clause while releasing the purchase order to a party.

    Ø Unattended materials

Some of the materials viz. Pallet Racks, Hand Trolleys etc. which are lying at SDF, occupies space and are of no use at SDF should be immediately returned to PNT Market. S&P / Engg should take the custody of these materials. Further the crate trolleys from Nilkamal is handier for the retail operations, hence, SDFs should replace with the existing trolleys.

    Ø Consumables

Consumables have gone up from Rs. 5.54 Lakh to Rs. 9.83 Lakh. S&P should make subcategory so that it will be clearly understood by everyone and close monitoring of the expenses.

    Ø Demo for SDF incharge

Forum has advised to S&P & PIS to arrange a demo for SDF in-charges on how to operate the counting machine and indent preparation module. This helps in lessening / easing their job by effective use of systems and reduction in inaccuracy.

    Ø Gas connection

Use of electricity for preparation of coffee will be more costly than gas. HR should look for an option of taking a new Indane Gas connection for day to day use of pantry. Since this connection will be only on commercial basis, we should compare the expenses of electricity and gas accordingly take a call. HR should submit the detail in the next BRM.

    Cheers
    Rasna

Thank you, I am quite aware of the difference. The passage in which the term appears seems to me to be more concerned with day-to-day movement of cash allowing for liquidity.
