I need a technique to learn vocabularies

    Hello everybody
I need a strategy to learn vocabularies. I am planning to learn 300 words per month/ 10 per day. I tried the drawing method but I found many words could not be drawn. Any other suggested method would be appreciated.
Also I want to know how to choose the vocabularies. Would I pick an article then study all its words or just study the whole dictionary starting
    from the letter A.
    Thank you

Read what is of interest to you personally - it may be cars or sport or clothes, whatever. Get a really good English/English dictionary as well as one for your own language/English. As you read, write new words in a notebook. Look them up. Write down what they mean. When you have your ten new words, set yourself an exercise to use them in sentences - up to five sentence each.

Once you have a pattern to learning new words, start reading other texts, about anything at all.

Using the words is more effective than merely learning them off by heart without any context.

Re: I need a technique to learn vocabularies

Never DO NOT learn any words which begins with the same letter!
    For example:
    adored and abroad
    This is not right.
You will forget all theese words very quickly and in addition: this method is not effective.
I tried a lot of methods to learn new words.
If you want to remember any learned word - you've got to use them.
To remember all of them, read any interesting english texts - this helps you, I do.

Now, I learn 38 words per day

As the other said, reading is the power. Because you'll learn ,beside the words, how to use them correctly as well. Some teachers say, it's better to learn a phrase than to learn a single word, good luck.

Don't forget that vocabulary is not simply about huge numbers of words; one word could have ten or more meanings, 'set' has over a nundred, so while you're dedication is admirable, don't let the mathematics get in the way of learning to use the words and the contexts where they work best.

Re: I need a technique to learn vocabularies

Reading is the key method to improve your vocabularies, sure that we can't choose the words, and we can't conserve all dictionary's words in the same time. The text, which we read which is choose it, it can help you also to know the different meaning of the word, with time you'll see that your vocabularies are very well frome time to time.

    Good luck

I agree with Karima about reading- learners who read a lot and widely generally have not only know more vocabulary but also have a better sense of when to use a word.

When you come across a word that you don't know, create a mind map by:

    a. looking for a synonym
    b. looking for an antonym
    c. looking of an idiom
    d. looking for a fixed expression
